ABOUT US

Rhein Percussion formed in the Fall of 2011 at California Institute of the Arts. Members Amir Oosman, Dan Ogrodnik, Etienne Rivera and Joshua Carro met during their Masters; studying with world-renowned specialists Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri, Randy Gloss and Andrew Grueschow of Hands On'Semble, and Houman Pourmehdi of Lian Ensemble. Each multi- instrumentalist in Rhein composes new and exciting music for percussive, melodic, and electronic instruments, combining contemporary and traditional music from India, Africa, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Iran and more.

Their self-titled debut was released in June of 2013, and garnered attention from both the percussion and world music communities, including a mention in Percussive Notes, official publication of the Percussive Arts Society. Rhein Percussion has also had the great honor of performing many times alongside the world renowned world percussion group Hands On’Semble. Currently, the group is teaching clinics at universities in the Southern California area and looks forward to participating in festivals and conventions. Rhein Percussion has recently recorded our 2nd album, which is set to release in 2016.
